Raising the mauri of Māori with disabilities

Hei Whakapiki Mauri is a Whānau Ora initiative aimed at raising the mauri of Māori with disabilities and their whānau.

Kanohi ki te Kanohi Consultancy approached The Word Lab to lead the communications and stakeholder engagement for Hei Whakapiki Mauri.

Our first task was to support the team to develop their core messaging, website content and initial promotional material. We developed a whānau and stakeholder communications plan, which includes ongoing event promotion, social media, regular e-newsletters and sharing stories from disabled people and whānau involved in the initiative.

Our work is continuing and we are proud that Hei Whakapiki Mauri is transforming into a charitable trust so that the team can continue to work with whānau long-term.

Client feedback

"We were fortunate to be one of The Word Lab's first clients, having worked with Hannah previously in other roles. We are impressed by her expertise with language and her ability to tell stories. Hannah knows how to use the words that matter most and our communications are now quite nuanced." - Ruth Jones, Kaiwhakahaere.
